More Ministry

It seems like every day I am so tired by the time I have time to blog that I don't really feel like it anymore, however, I am going to try to keep up even if its only in little bits so that I don't forget everything!  On Sunday, I went out sharing with one of the staff members, Rachel.  We were using Solarium (a method in which people answer questions with pictures) and had the opportunity to go through the whole thing with a young man from Sweden.  He and his father (and mother we later found out) were visiting the United States and we happened to find them relaxing on the Promenade.  The boy (who was probably about 15 or 16) was volunteered by his father to do it and was really open to sharing with us.  Despite a slight language barrier, he shared a lot about how he felt about the differences in freedom in the US versus Sweden.  He had traveled around a lot so had the opportunity to experience different cultures.  It was obvious by his answers that he had read parts of the Bible (he talked about creation, the ten tablets, and the good Samaritan) but he continually described God as being very strict.  Fair and kind, but very strict.  From the way he answered our questions, we were fairly certain that while he knew some about the Bible and a little about Jesus, he had probably never actually heard the gospel.  We would have loved to take that opportunity to share it with him, however towards the end of the survey his mother showed up and we ended up having to end the conversation.  It was a little unfortunate, but we can keep praying that he has the opportunity to hear it from someone else, or takes the initiative to read it himself.

So far, through those in our project, 6 people in Santa Monica have come to know Christ and begin a relationship with Him.  Hopefully the number will continue to grow!!

  1. Great post, Hannah! I've been watching for you to post, especially today. You are having lots of good learning experiences. I think you meant to say "not intimidating" in the second paragraph, but I knew what you meant. Have a great 4th! love and miss you.
