Back to College!! Or to the Dorms at least...

Well...I drove straight from Santa Monica back to Tucson last weekend and now I have been here almost a week already!! I barely had time to move my stuff in (my room is still not really done being set up) and we have been training ALL DAY every day this week.  Some of the training is separated by hall, others by new and returning members, and some parts are with everyone all together.  The training is specific and intensive.  It can be really long and tiring to sit through presentations all day, but all of the information is important and relevant and many presenters try to make them fun and interactive as well.  It's crazy the magnitude of information it is necessary to know, and how much work go's into being an RA that other people don't really think about.  Tomorrow and Friday we are participating in something called "Behind Closed Doors" where returners act out different scenarios that we may encounter, and the new RA's have to deal with that situation and then receive feedback.  It sounds somewhat intimidating, but I've heard that it is the best and most helpful part of training. So hopefully I do well! We have been working all night every night trying to make and put up decorations for our halls including door decs, bulletin boards, and wall decorations as well as completing paperwork for each room and putting materials for the new students in all of them as well.  On Sunday the first round of students (Only girls rushing for sororities and those on the Hall Involvement Team), about 160 will be moving in.  Later next week the rest of the students move in and we will be super busy checking in everyone and helping them get settled. 


I have already seen God work pretty amazingly since I have returned to Tucson.  I have at least three women on my staff that are also Christians and seem to have a pretty strong relationship with God.  One of them invited me to go to Church with her last Sunday when we finished training early, and I was really happy to attend and experience a large Christian community.  I'm fairly sure that there are other Christian RA's on my staff as well, I just need the opportunity to talk with them, which I'm certain will come! Jesus is kind of amazing :)
