Last week was pretty unfortunate and crazy. I had 5 tests (all hard) and a bunch of other things besides. Thankfully, although I'm not sure how successfully, I managed to make it through. This week I planned to be much better....no tests, just a monologue and math presentation that I got over today. Much easier. Except now it's freezing cold (literally) and I am sickly and my throat hurts and my nose is stuffy and my voice sounds like a frog when it decides to come out. And it's really very sad and unfortunate.
Today in my math class, my group had to give our final presentation for our second project. The project is the second that we have worked on this semester, and when we presented our first one, my team added in a timeline to our presentation to our timeline that made it more comprehensive than the rest of the class. So we won. Then we went to a competition and won that too. So we figured that for this presentation, ell of the other teams in the class would try to step it up to try to be better than us. But of course we like to prove that were better than everyone else, so while they raised the bar, we pretty much stood on a ladder and put it unreachably on the roof. The project requires a visual presentation, which everyone just uses a powerpoint for. Instead of powerpoint, I had the awesome idea of using a "Prezi" which is a new form of presentation made online that is really pretty nifty. Anyway, when we presented today our teacher was pretty darn impressed and informed us that "we had another winner." Ha. Even though there is no actual winner or competition for this one, we kind of just like to prove how were always the best.
**I know that that sounded ridiculously immodest but that was literally our thought process and how it went down and I am confident that you won't judge me.
Another thing about my math class: my teacher is a little, adorable, very old man. I kinda love him. Anyways, at the beginning of the class I wasn't a huge fan and I thought that he really didn't like me because I sent him an email complaining about the structure of the class. Anyways, we have warmed up to each other and now he actually really likes me as a student. On everything we have done in the class I have done really well. However, our last math test was last week when I was crazy busy...and let's just say I did pretty poorly. He handed back the tests today, (of which he of course knew mine was bad), and then invited a couple students up to talk, including me, and invited us to be preceptors for his 115a class next semester. Ha. I think it says something about the impression you've made on a professor when you practically fail his test and he turns around and asks you to be a preceptor.
This week, although I don't have a lot of schoolwork, I do have a couple interesting/important things coming up. On Tuesday and Thursday, I am interviewing for two new jobs in the Marketing Department at the student union. I applied because I really need a job, and they looked like something I could be good at. I'm eager to see how the interview goes, but I'm still pretty iffy about it because the job is definitely more time consuming. It would be a better job and one that would probably boost my resume, but its also one that I would kinda have to take with me all the time and put a lot of effort into (I think anyway.) But, I'm praying God will direct me on what to do! Also, tomorrow night I get to have dinner with some people that work at PWC because they invited my winning Case Competition group to dinner. So that's pretty cool :) I just hope my voice is better by tomorrow!
That was a fun blog to read. Hope you are feeling better soon and by the way--what's a preceptor?
ReplyDeleteha...a preceptor is kinda like a TA. They go to class and help the students and tutor and stuff like that.
