An Interesting Lunch?

Today I attended something called an 'Honors Forum Luncheon' that is open to members of the honors college.  The Luncheon consists of free lunch (as implied by the name) and a presentation (this one was about Media during the Virginia Tech Massacre.)  When I sat down at a table in the conference room with a few other honors students I've met, I was not surprised to find a plate holding a sandwich in front of me.  Most such luncheons seem to feed the attendees sandwiches.  However, when i peeked inside the sandwich, I was quite surprised at what I found and NOT just because I'm a very picky eater.  Each person at the table had the same reaction as I when they looked more closely at their meal.  Our sandwich, initially appearing to be a normal turkey sandwich, contained a strange type of cheese I've never seen before, green sort-of-lettuce-like stuff (that tasted a bit like dirt) and....Jelly.  Jelly! On a turkey sandwich.  After simply examining our plates and discussing the strange sandwiches for a few minutes, each person went about taking theirs about and removing the items that they found distasteful.  I kept the turkey and jelly on mine and tentatively took a bite of the strange combination.  Surprisingly, it wasn't half bad.  A little sweeter than I'm accustomed to, but I ended up eating the whole sandwich (I was pretty hungry to begin with).  The other people did the same and it turned out to be quite a filling lunch ending with a cream puff topped with strawberries. I was happy I attended =)

On a sadder note...I broke the handle on my very very very favorite coffee cup today :( I'm not really sure how to handle it yet.

  1. Wow. Who ARE you and where is my sister??? LOL. Either you were REALLY hungry or you are becoming a grown up...haha. I am very sorry about your cup. I know how that feels and it is so devastating. :( Oh, and I am SO jealous of your acoustic evening from your last post. It would be so awesome if we could find something like that when I visit you!

  3. The persons that designed that sandwich need some serious help. I was expecting it to be part of the media presentation, not your meal, at least it was free. Your post are great.
