Wildcat Weekend

This past week has been filled with lots of homework and many various UA activities. I can't say I have the best memory, but I'll try to recall some of them...

On Wednesday night, I dressed up in my business attire and walked in heels about 15 minutes across campus to attend my first Eller Scholars meeting.  Eller Scholars is a club designed for those who are both pre-business/business students and are also in the Honors College.  I'm not sure exactly what all they do yet, but I joined in order to find out.  At the meeting a couple of sophomore girls who were 'Generall Mills Ambassadors' gave a presentation about the company, and different things they get to do as ambassadors, as well as a job opportunity for those who are interesting in doing it next year.  It sounds like it could be a really good opportunity, so I think I'm going to look into applying in the Spring.

Friday night, I went with one of my neighbors to Heritage House, where they were holding an "acoustic cafe."  The cafe consisted of a number of talented young people playing instruments (mostly the guitar) and singing.  Many did songs that they had written themselves and a few did some modern music (such as Howie Day, Matt Nathanson, and the Goo Goo Dolls) that I pretty much fell in love with.  Overall, it was a very wholesome and enjoyable experience despite the fact that my butt was a bit numb by the end after sitting in fairly uncomfortable folding chairs.

Yesterday (Saturday) was our football team's first home game against Citadel, so needless to say the campus was blocked off at various points and there was countless people walking around sporting red and blue U of A apparel.  I dressed up along with everyone else and attended the first half of the game in the packed student section.  Not being a huge fan of football and standing on packed bleachers for multiple hours watching a game where we pretty much crushed the other team, I left around half-time. However, I did take some pictures to commemorate and share the first game and I will, most likely, continue to attend the home games in hopes that I will get my money's worth out of my Zonazoo pass, learn a little bit more about football, and experience a slightly more exciting game =)

Today has been a fairly lazy day. I slept in very late and drank coffee and did some homework in bed before showering.  I am now avoiding some more homework while writing a blog that probably had the potential to be very interesting but is not really because I'm just not in a very exciting mood. Hopefully the pictures will make up for my rather bland re-creation of my week/weekend and I will be able to find the motivation to do the homework, cleaning, and room re-arranging that has been waiting for me.

  1. It is good to hear about your week. The GM thing sounds interesting. Too bad you are not a football fan, I can appreciate that as i am not either. You look good in your business attire.
