The Incredible Gospel

This week I have a lot of extra time during the day because all of our scheduled Summer Project activities are at night and my job doesn't actually start until next Monday (except training on Thursday and Friday).  It's been nice having a little bit of time to become adjusted and explore the area before I'm so busy I don't have time to think.  Today, my friend Shannon and I spent a couple hours at a coffee shop having "Jesus Time."  I have a really hard time planning time to spend with God into my daily schedule, and I realized today how much I am missing.  Spending those couple hours reading the Bible, doing a devotional, and beginning a book I am reading for Cru Leadership next semester was such a special, relaxing time that I didn't want to stop.  A lot of what I read in pertained to how amazingly special the story of the gospel is and I realized how often I (and probably many others) take it for granted.  I've never had someone personally save my life or physically die to prevent me from being run over by a bus, but when this sort of thing happens in movies it is alarming how much it transforms the character's life.  The person who is saved seems to see every day in a new light, as a blessing, and at least for a short period of times lives joyfully and fully.  If you think about what Jesus did for us, its even better!  He didn't save our physical body, he saved our eternal soul and continues to do so everyday!  What if I, what if everyone, lived each day reveling in that sacrifice?  I don't think we could help but radiate joy in every activity that consumed our days.  How amazing is it that someone is saving our lives every day?  Rather than dwelling in the hardships or the challenges, wouldn't it be amazing if we could just be so thankful that we get to work through them because we are alive?  I so much want to be able to cherish the gospel this much every day.
