Last week was busy as always! On Tuesday, CRU held an annual event called the Veritas Forum (Veritas is Latin for truth I think). The forum tries to engage faculty and students in the really important questions/conversations in life. This year the subject was "Is Science Enough? Thinking Reasonably about the Meaning of Life?" We had a dialogue between two distinguished math professors, one a Christian from Williams College in MA and another the atheist Dean of the Math department here at UA. Both professors got 15 minutes to discuss their thoughts on the topic, and then asked each other a question. It finished with about half an hour of question and answers from the audience. We had a turn out of around 500 people and it was really interesting and engaging! The forum was taped, so the video will probably be online in the next few weeks if anyone is interested in seeing it.
Last night, I started my new job as a weekend hostess at a family restaurant and was informed that part of my job is to taste a bunch of the food and all of the pies so I can tell our customers about them. Not too bad a requirement if I do say so myself. However, I told them I will only be eating a bite of all of the pies, any more wouldn't be so good for me :P Today, I tried three amazingly delicious pies and there are many more to go! Ha.
The next week or two are full of interviews. I was one of 24 students to receive an interview for a really big scholarship through Eller, and that interview is on Friday. Then I have an interview for a summer Accounting Leadership Conference through Deloitte on Thursday, and a couple other interviews this Monday and the following Tuesday. It feels like all I do these days is dress up and tell people about myself! But hopefully all of these interviews will lead to some good opportunities, and if not, they are really good practice.
The rest of the weekend I'm on duty, so I will be hanging out in the dorms and doing lots of studying for another Accounting test next week!
You negelected to tell us what kind of pies you tested. Be sure to eat an extra bite of each one for me since I am not suppose to eat pite and cake. I will be praying for the interviews, the scholarship with Eller would be fantastic. I trust that you will have an awesome week.
