Today, some students in the Masters of Accounting program hosted a mock interview event where they would pretend to interview you for an internship and then provide feedback. I signed up because I figured you can never have enough practice, and often you don't have the opportunity to receive feedback. The interview went really well, and I'm excited to see what constructive criticism they have for me (they email it).
While I was in the accounting department I had the opportunity to chat a little bit with an upper division accounting professor who was the adviser for my xACT case competition, so she knows me. She is really great, and has a lot of connections. On my way out of the office she called out to me saying she wanted to introduce me to someone, who happened to be the Campus Recruiter for PWC (another big four company). I've never met this recruiter before, but she told me that she knew my name. As in we had never met but she had heard about me! I got to chat with her for a few minutes and she was really nice! So now, the recruiters from PWC and Deloitte know who I am. I may currently have no job, no money, and no set internship for this summer, but at least it looks like I'm setting myself up for a good future in the accounting field! Networking everything in business.
