Summer Life in the Adult World

Almost done with my first week as an adult!  I mean, I've been an adult for the past 3 years, but living in a house and working a full time job definitely makes it feel more real.  I'm pretty much all set up at my job and working 7-8 hours a day.  It's kind of weird, because even though during school I'm working wayyyy more than 8 hours a day, I'm not sitting in an office the whole time.  But I like it and I like the people that I'm working with a lot.  I sit at the front desk now and answer phones and do administrative stuff along with a lot of paperwork and random projects.  They bought me a Mac to work on which is kind of awesome and I've learned to successfully book flights and hotels for the executives and order lunch for board meetings!  Not exactly accounting tasks, but useful nonetheless.

Getting off of work is another weird experience for me.  When I get home, I have pretty much no obligations.  I've finally started reading the Hunger Games and I've been going to bed super early just because I'm tired and I can (and I get up early)!  I'm planning on trying to get involved in some church stuff over the summer, but I haven't quite had the chance yet so right now the evenings are pretty chill and relaxing.

Eating is another thing that is becoming new and exciting.  I now grocery shop and cook!  It's pretty great, but I never realized how long it takes to put together dinner!  One of my biggest goals for the summer is trying to eat healthy and learning to like some vegetables and expand my food horizons a bit.  So far I've gotten a pretty good start.  We buy and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and try to cook a healthy dinner every night.  I am currently willing to eat lettuce, carrots, corn and cucumber, and I tried some cooked zucchini tonight that wasn't so bad.  I also tried celery this week, but I'm not so sure that's going to grow on me.  And there is still so much time to go!

I'm finally all moved into my room and its lovely to have bathroom of my own for a while and be able to shower without wearing shoes.  My housemates and I are getting along really well and I think we will have a pretty pleasant summer together.  So my life is not anything to exciting, but comfortable, happy, and a nice break from school!

  1. Put peanut butter and raisins on your celery. Then it's almost like pb&j. ;)

  2. Zucchini squash is much better if it is stir fried and still crunchy. I am proud of you at least trying all types of veggies and fruit. It is OK not to like all of them. We will see you in California in June. Call when you have time and we can talk about Yellow Brick Road, it is exciting.
